A Haiti baker is in custody and facing a manslaughter charge after she fatally stabbed her husband.
The case comes less than a month after the wife of the late Hana Dias was found guilty of murdering her husband, whose body was found in their Hilo home in April 2017.
The couple’s 10-year-old daughter, who lived in the home, testified against her, and the prosecutor said that after she was questioned by police, she admitted to the killing.
The prosecutor said Dias stabbed her, then tied up her body.
Dias and her husband died at the hospital on April 16, 2017, and her daughter testified against Dias in court.
Prosecutors charged Dias with manslaughter, but she pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of unlawful use of a weapon in a domestic violence incident.
The prosecution said that Dias told police that she stabbed her estranged husband, who was dead from a gunshot wound to the head, because he was abusive to her and that she also said she had been raped by him.
She is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
